Through the Ceiling
Neurodivergent people, women, and people of colour, among others, are under represented in leadership and senior management even though representation is better at more junior levels
We want to see this change and believe that this is not only about the individual, and their strengths, but also about working together to change the environment and finding the right path for each individual to reach their goals
Our coaching programmes support clients to target the changes they need to see in their environment as well as the steps they can take to enhance their own development
Our coaches and mentors work with individuals and groups to provide affirming, targeted, coaching to address barriers so that senior leadership teams better reflect the diversity of brains, thinking and identities that we see in the world around us
How it works
-
Plan it
We start with a deep dive into the individual’s strengths, hopes and dreams, what they want their work life to look and feel like and what they want to achieve. We create a plan for the role or next step that fits the individual based upon who they are, how they like to work and the kind of professional they want to be
-
Make it happen
Having planned out what that next step and role looks like, we work out what is needed to get there and work on it together with monthly coaching, and if desired, mentoring so that by breaking it all down into manageable action steps we can make a real difference and make a real difference to progress in 12 months

Research
Our survey into accessing leadership roles has shown that for 80 per cent of those surveyed an affirming workplace would be the single greatest single contributor to reaching senior leadership with many reporting this as the most significant barrier to career advancement.
For those already within senior leadership, again an affirming workplace culture was the standout support in reaching this stage.
Popular supports that respondents were seeking included leadership mentoring and leadership and executive coaching.
This research is one of the key reasons for us founding this initiative to provide the space for reflection and planning for our clients to tackle the challenges they face and gain access to the supports they need to make progress. Given the potential obstacles, a listening and supportive coaching or mentoring relationship can make a big difference in moving forwards.
