Getting started

We can help you get started with educational psychology, educational support plans and schools.

Educational psychology

Our educational psychology colleagues can assess your child to understand what is happening for them during the learning process.

This involves completing forms about your child, sending any information or reports you already have, and an initial consultation with our team. Usually, we recommend that the educational psychologist visits your child at school to see how they are finding their experience there and to understand better what is currently working and not working.

You would then receive a report and a follow-up consultation so that you can discuss with us how you would like to move forward.

We recommend allowing up to 8 weeks from the initial consultation to the completion of the report.

“A useful and practical educational psychology report and a process that did not put unnecessary stress on our child.”

Educational plan

You can add an educational support plan to an educational psychology review.

This would describe the support that your child would need in class as well as highlight key targets and areas to work on to help your child make more progress.

This helps the school SENDCo and teaching team know how best to move forward and put the educational psychology recommendations into practice. This can also be undertaken on a stand-alone basis if you already have an educational psychology report.

“It was so helpful to have an educational plan that took account of all the information and assessments our child has undertaken and accurately reflected this in a manageable and clear plan with clear targets to start working on in school. This meant that the teachers at school were able to know where and how to start to support our child better.”

School ideas

Together with an educational psychology report and educational plan we can also add in a few school ideas that would match the provision in the educational support plan.

This is particularly useful if your child has not yet started in education or if you are considering whether your child needs to change school to access the provision that they would need.

“The school shortlist report meant that I saved many, many, hours of searching myself and was able to focus on those schools that are the most suitable for my child.”
